Daisy's Life's Impact

It is hard to describe the impact that Daisy had on our lives and the program. She was donated to Karen in October of 2011, becoming one of the founding members of the Stable Connections team. Daisy’s well-mannered, relaxed personality made her a favorite for many people and a perfect horse for all aspects of our programming.

Whether it was equine assisted psychotherapy, equine assisted learning, therapeutic riding or traditional riding lessons, she was our “GO-TO” horse since we knew how she was likely going to respond to any given situation. Over 1,200 individuals have walked through our barn doors and we are certain that they all have a unique story about Daisy and the impact she made on their life.

Daisy’s ability to be goofy taught individuals to remember to have fun and gave everyone a much-needed laugh when needed. Her curious nature allowed people to be curious along with her, encouraging people to interact with her. Daisy’s subtle ability to protect and nurture made people feel safe in her presence and cared for.

Even in Daisy’s last days, she continued to provide healing and growth to everyone around her, despite her own discomfort and pain. She allowed the veterinarians to work with her, giving them no problems and showing them the loving, curious horse we all knew and loved.

She allowed our clients to help care for her until her final day, giving people the opportunity to learn how to care for and show love to someone else. They gave back to her by trying to provide the same comfort as she had provided to so many. Even in her passing, she has continued to provide healing and growth by showing people how to say goodbye and work through their grief in a healthy way.

Stable Connections is the forever home for all of our horses. When a horse passes, they are buried in our “Circle of Life” area of the property, and Daisy is the sixth horse buried in that space. We would like to develop this area as a meditation and reflection space for people visiting the stables, as well as a space to honor all of the horses that have worked so hard to help so many people.

Here are some ways you can support our “Circle of Life” project:
1. Make a donation on our website to support the cost of construction.
2. Donate your time on one of our volunteer days.
3. Donate equipment to help clear the area.
4. Purchase a bench to put in the mediation area.
5. Volunteer one day a month to help with general ground maintenance.

Volunteers are the backbone of Stable Connections. Our mission would not be fulfilled, and our work would not be possible without the dedication and efforts of our volunteer team where there is one goal … to facilitate growth, learning and healing in an emotionally and physically safe environment.

Here are the volunteer days for May 2024.

Please let us know if you can help so we can plan projects and lunch will be provided for volunteers.

May 19, 10 AM - 2 PM
Rain Date; May 26, 10 AM - 2 PM

Your support means the world to us! Without it, we would not be able to have the impact we are fortunate to have on our community.
