Our facilitating team includes licensed therapists and trained equine specialists who are experts in horse behavior. When appropriate, additional qualified specialists may join our team to help meet specific needs. Our team approach allows us to provide the highest quality services for our clients.
Karen Guile - CaronCEO & Founder, EAGALA Certified
Karen graduated in 1980 with a degree in Physical Therapy, and attended Lyndon State College working towards her degree in Special Education with a minor in Psychology. Her desire to work with horses and at-risk youth lead Karen to become the first person to become EAGALA Certified in both the States of Vermont and New Hampshire. In 2009, Stable Connections made its home on land owned by Karen in Guildhall, Vermont.
Judy HoughtonPsychotherapist & Director
Judy was born in Stoneham, MA and received her undergraduate degree from St. Mary’s of the Wood and her masters degree from Boston College. She is recently retired but has over 35 years experience as a mental health counselor and has been working with Stable Connections for the last six years. She currently lives in Indiana with her dog Angus and assists us with program planning remotely.
Andrea was born and raised in Lancaster, NH. She received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Nevada, LV. After spending 20 years in the west and the mid-west she has returned to the NEK. Andrea is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 18 years of experience in the Hospice Industry. After teaming up with a group of Veterans in an Equine Assisted Learning Program, her passion and reverence for the powerful relationship between horse and human was reborn. She is a Certified EAGALA Mental Health professional and specializes in trauma, grief, loss, and bereavement. She works with Veterans through group work and corporate team building.
Kathy PetersLicensed Therapist
Kathy graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Recreation from Green Mountain College and then went on to get her Masters in Social Work from the University of Vermont. Kathy is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker who has spent the majority of her career working with children and families. Kathy discovered Equine Assisted Learning when working for a residential treatment center where participants had the opportunity to participate in programs at Stable Connections. Kathy joined the Stable Connections team after seeing the impact that the program had. Kathy’s recreation experience, combined with her experience working in the mental health field, makes Equine Assisted Learning a good match.
Avi ChallinorStable Staff
Aviara Challinor is a freshman at New England College, majoring in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. She is on the NEC Field Hockey team with an interest in horse showing and becoming a large animal veterinarian, and is a valuable member of the Stable Connections team.
