Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Learning
Stable Connections programs, incorporate horses experientially for emotional growth, this model is a solution-focused collaboration between a licenses Mental Health Professional, an Equine Specialist and horses working together with the individuals and groups. An adjunct or alternative to talk therapy, the EAGALA Model embodies a strict code of ethics.
Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) is a powerful and effective therapeutic approach that has an incredible impact on individuals, youth, couples, families, and groups, as well as military personnel and veterans, EAP addresses a variety of mental health and human development and behavioral challenges including ADD, depression, eating disorders, PTSD, substance abuse, anxiety, relationship problems and effective communication.
Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) focuses on education and developing specific life skills, such as motivating a sales force in a corporation or cultivating anti-bullying techniques in schools. Examples of the tools utilized and developed are non-verbal communication, assertiveness, creative thinking, problem-solving, leadership, taking responsibility, teamwork and confidence.
The focus is not riding or horsemanship, EAP or EAL involves setting up ground activities with horses that require individuals to apply certain skills. Participants learn about themselves and others participating in these activities with the horses. Then process (discuss) the feelings, behaviors and patterns that may arise.
We believe that success is measured not only by the number of people we help, but also in the quality of help provided and the improvement made by each participant.
In 2009, Stable Connections became the first and only certified program in Northern Vermont and New Hampshire, serving the needs of individuals with emotional, behavioral or physical challenges living in Coos and Grafton County of New Hampshire and Essex-Caledonia County of Vermont.
Working with corporations, therapists, community agencies, schools, hospitals, residential treatment programs, government and military agencies, court services, families and corporations to achieve client goals.
